Alex Memory
Alex automatically remembers important information from your conversations — about your servers, preferences, resolved issues, and favorite settings. The longer you work with it, the better it understands you and the faster it can help.
Note: Alex Memory is available from Alex V2.7. If you are using an older version, Alex only remembers the current conversation.
How It Works
Automatic Storage
During every conversation, Alex automatically identifies and stores facts that will be useful in the future:
| Type of information | Example |
|---|---|
| Technical preferences | ”I prefer Nginx over Apache” |
| Resolved issues | ”Error 502 on WordPress was resolved by increasing memory_limit” |
| Server configuration | ”My Minecraft server runs on port 25565 with 4GB RAM” |
| Recurring tasks | ”I back up the database every week via cron” |
| Personal preferences | ”Always write variable names in English” |
Memory Search
Before every message, Alex automatically searches its memory for relevant information. For example, if you write:
“My server isn’t working again”
Alex will remember what servers you run, what issues you resolved last time, and which steps helped — and immediately suggest a targeted solution.
Explicit Storage
You can ask Alex to remember something:
“Alex, remember that my main website runs on PHP 8.3 and I must not change the version.”
Alex will store this information and next time you are dealing with updates, it will warn you.
Memory Levels
Alex uses two levels of memory that complement each other:
| Level | What it remembers | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Personal | Information specific to you | Your servers, preferences, resolution history |
| Global | General hosting knowledge | Verified procedures, common panel errors, configuration tips |
Personal memory is private — no one else has access to it. Global memory contains general knowledge that Alex uses for all users (for example, “The default PHP version on the Hestia panel is 8.1”).
Memory Management
What Alex Stores
- Facts about your servers and services
- Preferences and settings you mention
- Verified problem solutions
- Recurring procedures and workflows
What Alex Does NOT Store
- Login credentials and passwords
- Sensitive personal data
- Transient states (current load, one-time errors)
- Unverified information or guesses
- Courtesy phrases and greetings
Management via UI
In the admin panel you can:
- View stored memories — a list of all memories Alex keeps about you
- Delete individual memory — if some information is outdated or incorrect
- Delete all memories — complete wipe of personal memory
Tip: Memory is independent of conversations. Deleting a conversation does not affect stored memories.
Memory Commands
Alex has a built-in tool for working with memory. You can use it directly in chat:
| Command | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
search | Search memory | ”Find how I solved error 502 last time” |
profile | Show stored information | ”Show me everything you know about me” |
remember | Explicitly store a fact | ”Remember that I own the domain example.cz” |
Limitations
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Maximum memories retrieved | 10 (personal) + 5 (global) |
| Minimum message length for storage | Must contain meaningful content |
| Memory after conversation deletion | Persists — memory is independent of conversations |
| Availability | Requires active Alex V2.7+ |
FAQ
Why doesn’t Alex sometimes know about a past conversation?
Memory depends on how relevant your query is to stored facts. If you ask about something completely new, Alex may not have related information. You can help with a more specific query or an explicit reminder.
How do I clear memory?
In the admin panel, go to the Memory Management section. Here you can delete individual items or all memories at once.
Is memory shared between servers?
Yes, personal memory is tied to your user account, not a specific order. This means Alex remembers facts across all your servers and services.
